Fun Bike Dates for Partners & BFFs

The only thing more fun than riding your bike is riding your bike with someone you love.

With both Valentine’s Day & Galentine’s on the horizon, I’m here to help you make plans with the people you love the most. These activities are great to enjoy with another person, either romantically or platonically, because you get to spend quality time riding bikes together. And because this is February in Chicago, these dates can be done in any kind of weather!

3 Course Meal at
3 Different Spots

One of the great parts about using a bike as transit is that you don’t have to worry about parking availability or train schedules, so you can easily hop on your bike in between meal courses. Plus, there’s no better way to work up an appetite than by riding to your meal! So pick a spot for drinks & appetizers, then head over to a different place for the main meal, and wrap it up at y’all’s favorite dessert shop. There are so many great restaurants in Chicago, so this can be a fun way to enjoy more of them!

Bike to a Show

Any kind of show! Chicago has a plethora of music venues to choose from to accommodate any kind of music taste. If music isn’t your taste, you don’t have to worry – the city also boasts plenty of Improv or Stand Up shows alongside a thriving theater scene to satisfy anyone, no matter their budget. It can be really fun to chat about your favorite parts of the show (or the worst parts 👀) while riding away into the night.

Winter Picnic

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that if you live in Chicago and already aren’t balking at the idea of riding your bike for a date in the winter, then you’re pretty used to being out in the cold and enjoying the time spent there.

Find a trail that leads somewhere where you can light a small, cozy fire and then bust out the warm food & s’mores. A small cooler works great to keep hot foods insulated from the cold, so you could pack something toasty & tasty to eat. Plus you could fill a thermos with mulled wine or hot toddies to really warm ya up from the inside out.

 Brew Tour

Coffee Date or Beer Date? No matter which brew you prefer, you can take a friend or lover with you on an adventure to try out a bunch of new spots to taste a sampling of different drinks. The best part about this one is that it can be as long or as short as you like. Maybe you could each pick one or two breweries/coffee shops and surprise each other with your favorite spots to drink! Or you can join the BFFs on our coffee date ride on February 11th! Grab your Valentine & get more deets at the link below:

Hit the Trails

What kind of trail? Whatever kind you like! For this date, let the journey be more important than destination and take the scenic route down one of your favorite trails. Sharing a trail you love with someone you love can be such a special and memorable way to spend quality time together.

For some ideas, check out our blog post about great local trails. Be sure to check conditions before you head out, especially if the trail isn’t paved.

No matter who you decide to ride your bike next to or where you decide to go, the fun part is in getting there together. 💕
