BFF Bikes is now hosting women's winter training camps in Arizona designed for road cyclists looking for a truly exceptional addition to their winter training.

February 24-28, 2018


Over the course of five days, we’ll ride approximately 200 miles, climb 10,000-ish feet, and smile constantly. Adding this to your training will take your spring fitness to the next level.

But the goal of this camp is more than just about fitness: this camp is designed  to offer a unique opportunity for women cyclists who want to push themselves and reach new heights.  

Riders of various abilities are encouraged to join, though all should be able to ride 50 miles continuously at a steady pace, have at least one year experience road riding, and have spent the winter months training regularly. We are here to help you get ready! If you are in Chicago, the BFF Bikes Feel the Byrne training program is an excellent winter training option.

Camp Accommodations

Participants will stay in a spacious rental vacation home, sharing bedrooms with a roommate. The home includes a heated pool, big screen tvs, pool table, and many more amenities.

Camp Includes

  • Accommodations (shared rooms but entire home)
  • Expertly created routes averaging 40-75 miles
  • Coached rides and skill sessions: improve pacelining, handling skills, climbing, descending, and more
  • Mechanic support to ensure your bike is in perfect working order

  • Transportation from Airport to camp house on Saturday 2/24

Tentative Agenda

Arrival day: Arrive at camp house beginning at noon. We will have mechanics on hand to assist with reassembling bikes if needed.  Before dinner, we’ll shake out our travel legs and get acquainted with a  ride on “The Loop,” a path on Tucson's riverbeds.

Evening activity:  BBQ & Hot Tubbin

Day 2: Today’s ride will be approximately 50 miles with around 3,000 feet of climbing as we go through beautiful Gates Pass and Saguaro National Park East. We’ll focus on smooth pacelining and have a skills session to learn from the pros the best climbing and descending technique in prep for the following days.

Evening Talk and Activity : You’re an athlete! This talk will focus on the mindset of an athlete, mental toughness, and goal setting for this camp and beyond. We will also have a snack making station to make homemade energy bars.

Day 3: Riding to Parker Canyon Lake  will be an unforgettable ride well worth the hour drive to our starting point in Sonoita. We’ll ride 55 miles with 3,600 feet of elevation  on rollers as well as long steady efforts. Breath-taking climbs and views are  guaranteed.

Evening Talk and Activity: Talk on importance of proper recovery followed by restorative yoga. 

Day 4: A Tucson training camp is not complete without riding Mount Lemmon, a ride that belongs on all cyclists’ bucket list. After 21 miles of a steady 5% grade up, you will have logged nearly 5,500 feet in climbing. This will be an excellent opportunity to  put  your newly refined mental skills to practice.

Evening Activity: Recover and movie night

Check-out day: Early risers looking for a recovery ride prior to our noon check out will take a spin through the 8-mile iconic loop through Saguro National Park west.

Bike Transportation from Chicago to Tucson is available for $50 round-trip.
